Airport chaos in Europe persists

 

As an FCM customer, we want you to be prepared for your journeys ahead, especially as airports in the UK, US and Europe continue to face significant challenges this summer.

Due to the ongoing issues, which have been widely reported in the media, Heathrow Airport has capped passenger numbers to 100,000 per day to help alleviate the issues on the ground.

To manage this new restriction, British Airways has announced that they will be introducing a new mechanism from 15 to 24 July:

• Any reservation for travel from Heathrow between 15 and 24 July that has not been confirmed or ticketed will be cancelled by the airline by the end of the day of the reservation.

In order to reduce disruption our customers may face, FCM is taking the following action

• FCM is pro-actively contacting any travellers with current bookings that are not yet finalised in order to confirm or release the booking.

• Between 15 and 24 July, we will continue to monitor the situation to pro-actively assist travellers. We would like to ask customers to be aware that tickets must be confirmed on the day of reservation to confirm the ticket.

• We are aware that British Airways have significantly reduced availability from Heathrow during this period, which we anticipate will have a significant impact on pricing.

What we are asking from you, our customer:

• Any new reservations for British Airways flights departing Heathrow between 15 and 24 July made on online booking tools will be auto-cancelled by the airline by the end of the day on which the booking is made. With this in mind, please ensure travellers push for same-day approval to avoid losing their reservation.

We are unable to change approval flows in online booking tools, therefore it is imperative travellers and bookers are aware that they must receive same-day approval, regardless of the deadline displayed on the tool.

We understand that these new measures may cause disruption to your travel plans, and we will continue working closely with our airline partners to keep you informed.
