Latest update on business travel priority for COVID-19 vaccine

Earlier today, the government announced that business travellers would be able to get vaccinated even if they were currently not eligible under the national vaccine roll-out. This as part of a campaign to prioritise people facing ‘special circumstances’.

Travel for the following reasons would be considered as ‘special circumstances':

  • Business or work-related travel
  • Study at an accredited educational institution
  • Sportsmen/women who need to travel outside of South Africa to represent the country
  • Accessing medical care

However, Dr Nicholas Crisp, Deputy Director-General of the National Health Institute, retracted the information saying that the circular had been unclear in its intention and would be withdrawn with immediate effect.
