Inspiring inclusion this International Women’s Day: Natasha Roberts
In celebration of this year’s International Women's Day, we're thrilled to shine a spotlight on the successful women within our FCM team.
Meet FCM Travel Manager Natasha Roberts.
As we explore the theme of 'Inspiring Inclusion' this year, we asked Natasha how she cultivates a culture where every voice is valued and celebrated. Discover her journey, insights, and aspirations for a more inclusive future.
What inspired you to pursue a career in the travel industry, and how has your journey been as a woman in the field?
“I have always been obsessed with different cultures, exploring new places and just soaking up new experiences. So, it was only natural for me to jump into the travel industry as a young girl out of high school and straight into travel school."
“As a woman in the field, it has been amazing being led by great female leaders. It helps keep my flame alive that one day I can also reach all my goals, just as the strong women before me who have paved the way.”
How do you approach ensuring inclusivity and understanding diverse needs when managing travel arrangements for clients from different backgrounds?
“When it comes to making travel plans for our awesome clients, inclusivity is what prioritise."
“I find it easy to connect with people from different cultures as I am an immigrant from Zimbabwe, so I’m able to build rapport with those from diverse cultural backgrounds and become personable quite quickly. I am all about embracing diversity and making sure everyone's needs are met with a big smile!"
In your opinion, how does having diverse perspectives within a travel management team contribute to better service for clients?
“Having diverse perspectives within a travel management team is like having a treasure trove of unique insights and experiences at our fingertips!"
“In my opinion, it's an absolute game-changer when it comes to providing great service for our clients. In my team each member brings their own background, culture, and way of thinking to the mix, which means we are constantly brainstorming fresh ways to enhance our services. Having diverse perspectives helps us stay ahead of our clients' requests and liaise with suppliers across the globe.”
What message would you like to share on International Women's Day about the importance of inclusivity and celebrating women's achievements in the travel industry?
“On International Women's Day, let's raise our voices high and celebrate the incredible achievements of women in the travel industry! For myself I have learned over the years not to let fear block me from moving forward."
“A quote that resonates with me and the journey I have been through is "I have learned over the years that when one's mind is made up, this diminishes fear; knowing what must be done does away with fear" - Rosa Parks. This suits our lives in the travel industry so well, as we go through many unexpected changes in our day-to-day jobs and tasks."
“So, this International Women's Day, let's come together to celebrate the strength, resilience, and brilliance of women in travel."
“Here's to the fearless female adventurers who dare to dream big and make their mark on the world – may we continue to lift each other up and soar to new heights together!”
