Our approach

Supporting sustainable-focused programs
Adaptability is a part of our DNA. So, when our clients ask us to support more sustainable travel programs, it’s a challenge we’re ready and willing to guide them through.
From sustainable travel reporting in the FCM Platform to carbon offset projects and sustainable policy advice, our teams and products are bringing more actionable insights to your ESG targets. And for those that need something more in-depth support, we have the minds at FCM Consulting for that.

Sustainability at FCM
There’s no getting around it – travel uses up energy. Lots of energy. With our global teams flying across the world and back, we had to find a way to counteract all that energy use and pay it back to the environment. FCM’s pathway to net zero includes offsetting our own business travel, including flights and accommodation.
Closer to home, we’re reducing waste, emissions and energy consumption in our offices and through our suppliers to support a brighter future for all.
“We will leverage our platforms, people and partnerships to facilitate informed choices, helping customers reduce their impact and ensuring our actions benefit our people, destinations and communities”, said Michelle Degenhardt, Global Sustainability Officer for Flight Centre Travel Group.

Our journey to net-zero

Social

Caring for the people who care for you
People are at the heart of everything we do at FCM. The importance of our people is reflected in our parent company, Flight Centre Travel Group's number one philosophy, which reads: “Our company is our people. We care for our colleagues’ health and wellbeing, their personal and professional development and their financial security. We believe that work should be challenging and fun for everyone and through work we contribute to our community.”
We’re constantly pushing to improve the welfare and wellbeing of our people and the communities in which they exist. This starts with proudly supporting diversity and equal opportunities within our teams – you can see our workplace awards here.
Giving back through Flight Centre Foundation
Handing out cheques and calling it a day? That isn’t our style.
We’re all about giving real value, time, effort, and expertise to truly make a difference.
Flight Centre Foundation is our way of giving back to the amazing communities who let us work, travel, and live alongside them. Over the years, our people have provided solar energy to lightless communities, funded charity drives in natural disasters, and are always on the lookout for projects and charities that will help our global community thrive. More than AU$10.5m and our teams’ time and energy has been donated to a range of causes including:
- Asia Pacific: Fare Share, The Pyjama Foundation, Greening Australia, Happy Paws Happy Hearts
- Americas: Make-A-Wish, disaster relief funds including Hurricane Dorian, No Hungry Holidays
- Europe, Middle East & Africa: Adopt a School program (Qhobosheane Primary School, Soweto), Macmillan, The Trussell Trust, coastal clean ups in Sweden and South Africa

Rolling out the welcome mat for all
At FCM Travel, we have always been inclusive. Our dedication to Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion (DEI) is much like our love for travel: limitless and full of enthusiasm. We encourage everyone to come as they are, and we’ll come together as one. Our policies, programs, employee-led resource groups, and recruitment strategies all support our commitment to creating a safe, diverse, and inclusive work environment for all our employees globally.
Reconciliation Action Plan
In 2022, together with our parent company, Flight Centre Travel Group (FCTG), we took a step forward on the journey to reconciliation by launching our first Reconciliation Action Plan (RAP). Since then, we have made great inroads in our workplace and the broader industry. Fast forward to now, we’re proud to be working through the second phase of our Innovate RAP. Stronger, informed, and more committed than ever.
Governance

Corporate Governance
FCM’s corporate governance is driven by our parent company Flight Centre Travel Group Limited (FLT), a company listed on the Australian Securities Exchange (ASX). FLT and FCM Travel endorse and comply to ASX’s Corporate Governance Principles and Recommendations. The Board’s Audit Committee oversees climate-related risks and opportunities that the company may confront in the short, medium and long-term.
