Travel Alert: Namibian Embassy scraps business visa for SA passport holders

The Namibian Embassy has released a statement that as of 26 May 2016 South African passport holders travelling to Namibia for the following reasons do not need to apply for a visa:

• Tourism

• Medical treatment

• Attending meetings

• Visiting friends or relatives

• Attending workshops (not as facilitator)

A Visitor’s Entry (VEP) will be issued at the port of entry with conditions clearly indicating the purpose of such a visa.

Should you be travelling to Namibia for work-related events such as working at subsidiary companies, giving training to local staff, conducting audits, volunteer work etc. a work permit will be required. All work permits must be applied for in Windhoek by the host company on applicant’s behalf.
