Air New Zealand's Retrofitted Dreamliner Takes Flight
19 June 2025 - Trans-Tasman travel is back in a big way – with Auckland topping the list as the most-travelled international destination for Australian corporates in 2025 so far, and travellers are reaping the rewards. Air New Zealand’s first Boeing 787-9 Dreamliner retrofitted with the new product started flying between Brisbane and Auckland in mid-May, and Air New Zealand will add more than 30,000 seats to North America this year.
“The trans-Tasman is an essential airbridge between Australia and New Zealand, and business travellers are now craving an office in the sky to continue their work while en route, with Air New Zealand’s retrofitted Dreamliners delivering an improved aircraft and cabin experience,” said FCM Travel General Manager ANZ Renos Rologas.
“After nearly two decades with their open, angled Business pods, this new seating offers a contemporary design and more privacy and will be a welcome addition for premium travellers.
“For Business Premier, some features we’re excited about are the sliding privacy screens, a 24-inch in-flight entertainment screen, one of the widest in the air, and the full lie-flat recline.
“The addition of Business Luxe seats means another premium option for travellers, with a full closing door, larger bed and space for two to dine, keeping on par with global airlines.
“These upgrades also align with feedback from our customers in our recent survey.
“We surveyed our corporate Travel Managers globally about what they believed would be the biggest in-flight improvements in 2025, based on their knowledge and what they’re hearing from customers, and these upgrades certainly fit the bill.
“Competition is king for our customers. Improvements like these drive real choice for passengers looking for both a great price and sky-high experience, and these retrofitted Dreamliners will be turning the heads of customers craving the best at 30,000 feet.”
